- The Klias River cruise is one of the activities most looked forward by tourists when visiting Sabah. On the cruise, expect to see the unique proboscis monkeys of the Klias Wetlands. The proboscis monkeys are only found in Borneo. The river cruise begins in the afternoon and usually ends in the evening. It is not hard to recognize a proboscis monkey as it is the one with a long nose and a bulging belly.

 

- The river cruise begins at 4pm in the afternoon and will take a period of about 2 hours. Shortly into the river cruise, you will be able to see monkeys and other wildlife around the trees in the wetlands. Do watch out for long-tailed macaques, otters, crocodiles and silver-leaf monkeys that commonly wander around in the waters of the mangrove forest. Visitors are also in luck to watch some species of birds such as the hornbill, gray heron, eagle, white heron, eagle as well as the kingfisher.

 

- Upon completion of the cruise, you will be sent back to the jetty for a sunset dinner. Usually fresh seafood will be served. This cruise is also special because you will be able to watch thousands of fireflies light up the riverbanks as you fill up your stomach.
